Buyer: Grocery


Grocery buyers are responsible for coordinating the purchase and shipment of all products to the workplace.  The buyer analyzes store stock, coordinates a purchasing budget, and orders shipments based on supply and demand in order to stock store shelves accordingly. Grocery Buyers should have excellent negotiating skills and be able to maintain and enhance relationships with industry suppliers.

Specific tasks the buyer may be responsible for include the following: paying attention to the quality of incoming product shipments, coordinating reasonable pricing with the supplier and making sure that groceries are stocked with only the highest quality food products. Candidates for the position of Grocery Buyer will likely require previous experience within the grocery industry. Dependent upon the seniority of the position, they may also require a higher education degree.
